What homeowners come to us with
The original builder staircase had squeaky carpeted plywood treads, wobbly surface-mounted newels, and dated generic railing that did not match the architectural integrity of the home.
How we build it
We removed the carpet and rough treads, reinforced the carriage stringers, and fitted 1-inch solid quarter-sawn white oak bullnose treads. Crafted custom square box newel posts mortised into structural floor framing, and ran custom board-and-batten wainscoting along the stair wall.
What you end up with
A dead-solid, whisper-quiet craftsman staircase with hand-rubbed satin finish that serves as the visual centerpiece of the entryway.
