Bathrooms are where shortcuts show up years later. A shower that was never properly waterproofed will find its way into the joists below, and by the time there is a stain on the ceiling downstairs the repair is no longer a bathroom job.
Waterproofing as a system
A tiled shower is not waterproof. Tile and grout both pass water — the assembly behind them is what keeps it out. We build the wet area as one bonded waterproof system from the pan up before a single tile goes on, so water that gets through the surface has nowhere to go but the drain.
Curbless entries
A zero-threshold shower means recessing the floor between the joists rather than building a ramp up to it, which is work that has to happen while the floor is open. It is the difference between a shower you walk into and one you climb into, and it only gets more valuable as the years go on. Worth deciding before demolition, not after.
Doing the whole room at once
Heated floor, exhaust ventilation, blocking in the walls for grab bars, and any plumbing moves all belong in the same window while the room is open. Adding any of them later means opening it back up. We would rather have the conversation about what you might want in ten years while it is cheap to accommodate.

Custom Bathrooms- How long does a bathroom take?
- A full primary bath down to the studs is usually three to four weeks on site. A powder room or a straightforward refresh can be considerably less. Tile work and the waterproofing cure time set the pace more than anything else, and neither is worth rushing.
- Is a curbless shower more expensive?
- Somewhat, because the floor structure has to be recessed rather than built up, and that is real framing work. It is a small premium when the floor is already open and a large one if you decide you want it later, which is why we raise it early.
- Can you match tile and fixtures I have already picked out?
- Yes. Plenty of homeowners come to us with a specific tile or fixture in mind. We will tell you honestly if something will be a problem to install or maintain, but the selections are yours.
