A kitchen remodel is the job where layout matters more than finishes. Beautiful cabinetry in a room that still traps whoever is cooking is an expensive disappointment. We start with how the room is used and work outward from there.
Opening up an older layout
Most kitchens in the Southtowns were built as a room you cooked in alone, with a wall between the kitchen and the dining room and a peninsula blocking the traffic. Taking that wall out usually means it was carrying load, which means an engineered LVL beam sized for the span and pocketed flush into the ceiling so you are not left looking at a dropped bulkhead where the wall used to be.
Cabinetry built for the space
There is a real difference between cabinets ordered to fit a room and cabinets built for it. Custom work means the run ends where it should, the filler strips disappear, and the storage matches what you actually own. We build in quarter-sawn white oak, painted hardwood, and mixed material islands, with soft-close hardware throughout.
The parts nobody photographs
Plumbing and electrical get moved and inspected while the walls are open. Ventilation gets ducted properly to the outside rather than recirculated. Under-cabinet lighting is run before the uppers go on. These are the things that make a kitchen work in year six, and they are the easiest place for a contractor to save money at your expense.

Kitchen Remodels- How long does a kitchen remodel take?
- A full kitchen with custom cabinetry typically runs four to six weeks on site once materials are in hand, longer if the layout changes structurally. Cabinetry lead time is usually the long pole, so we order early and schedule demolition around the delivery date rather than tearing your kitchen out and then waiting.
- Can I stay in the house during the work?
- Almost always, yes. We set up dust barriers to isolate the work zone, lay floor protection on the path in and out, and clean up at the end of each day. Most families set up a temporary kitchen elsewhere in the house for the duration. We will talk through what that looks like before we start.
- Do you handle the design, or do I need a designer?
- We work both ways. For most kitchens we handle layout and material selection directly with you as part of the project. If you are working with a kitchen designer or architect already, we build from their drawings and coordinate directly with them.
